Film piracy is undoubtedly the most destructive menace that has been plaguing all the film industries in India over the years. However, when it comes to controlling the pirates, the Tamil film industry is far ahead of any other film industries.

But, Kollywood's biggest film of 2016 till date, Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Theri too fell prey to the piracy menace. Theri released on the 14th in cinemas worldwide and by 15th itself, Theri's pirated DVD was screened on a private travels bus which was on its way from Trichy to Tanjavore.

Apparently, a diehard fan of Vijay was in the bus at the time of Theri's pirated screening and immediately called up other Vijay fans from Tanjavore. Angry fans inspected the bus upon its arrival and found the DVD of Theri and handed the driver and cleaner to the police.
