Vijay is a popular star in Tamil Nadu with massive fan following. Nonetheless, he is yet to make his mark in Telugu, whereas his contemporaries like Suriya and Vikram have delivered few super hits here. Thupaki was the only film of Vijay that impressed Telugu audience. The actor’s latest film Police which is the dubbed version of his Tamil film Theri released yesterday is off to good start in Telugu states.
As per trade reports, Police collected a share of Rs 80 lakhs in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Unlike Vijay’s previous films, Police is targeted at families and kids along with masses. The movie has some feel good emotions, besides massy elements for Vijay fans. Police is reportedly doing equally good in class as well mass centers.
Police original version Theri got strong openings, indeed highest for Vijay. The Atlee directorial grossed around Rs 28.5 crores worldwide. The film was exceptional in Karnataka and Kerala with 2.5 cr and 1.8 cr nett collections respectively. Trade experts predict, Theri as well as Police will be highest grosser in Vijay’s career.
