Nagarjuna, Karthi and Tamannah Bhatia starrer Oopiri is unstoppable at USA box office. The Vamsi Paidipally directorial has crossed life time overseas collections of Soggade Chinni Nayana in its opening weekend. Oopiri collected $910K gross till Sunday, wherein SCN USA total gross was $838,619. Oopiri even crossed Manam first weekend USA total- $861k, with just $14 and $12 ticket price.
Forbes magazine published a special article on Oopiri praising its box office performance in USA. "Hailed by Indian critics as both faithful to the original and a stand-alone film which celebrates life, Oopiri rang up an estimated $910,000 on 163 screens in the U.S. last weekend, ranked just outside the top 10 in 11th spot," reads the post.
It further stated that, Oopiri is giving tough competition to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Hindi action thriller Rocky Handsome and collected 28 crore in its opening weekend in India.
Usually, remakes fall short to match the quality and commercial appeal of the original films, but director Vamsi Paidipally rightly remade the French film The Intouchables.
