Ever since the National Awards were announced, The Jury Members were criticized for being partial to Hindi films as most of the awards have been bagged by Bollywood Actors & Technicians. Especially, Denying the Best Director award to SS Rajamouli despite his marvelous work in 'Baahubali - The Beginning' raised many eyebrows.

Actor-cum-Filmmaker Satish Kaushik who headed the jury claims they have honoured excellence not regionalism. He, however, admits the neck-to-neck contest between SS Rajamouli and Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the Best Director award. In the end, Jury Members opted for Bhansali as they feel 'Bajirao Mastani' outshined 'Baahubali' in terms of detailing, breathtaking visuals and performances.

After all is said and done, Mr.Satish accepts the fact that 'Baahubali' is the first Indian feature flick to match Hollywood standards. He adds, 'In the end, We have to make a tough call and picked up Bhansali for the top honour'.

Of course, Rajamouli had nothing to lose here. 'Baahubali' has been the pride of Indian Cinema and no award could match that stature.
